Giulia Valle Ensemble
Ellington said that his instrument was the orchestra, and something very similar could be said about the bassist Giulia Valle: with almost three decades on stage and a dozen recordings as a leader, her “mural” perspective of music makes her a teacher among musicians. A leader of groups at the service of the emotion that beats inside the music; whether it is a trio, her project Líbera or the Ensemble with which she will visit us on this occasion, Giulia Valle always finds the way of reinventing herself in new formats without ever imposing tags. And always free, deep and emotional.Eliane Elias
Formed and matured with artists as iconic as Vinicius de Moraes, Tquinho or Steps Ahead, the career of the Brazilian pianist and singer Eliane Elias experienced a new impulse in the change of the century, in part thanks to her participation in the documentary street 54 of Fernando Thrueba. Her recordings with the bassist Marc Johnson - husband of Elias, and companion of Bill Evans in the 1970s - and her surrender of classics of Jobim and Brazilian standards have become for their own merits in essential recordings for Any Afrolatin jazz fan. -

Yazz Ahmed
Although the British jazz scene is a hotbed of talent, few musicians can boast of having collaborated with such influential artists as Radiohead or Jamaican Lee Scratch Perry. His proposal breaks down prejudices and barriers between sexes, styles, eras and cultures: Yazz Ahmed imagines the future looking inside herself, on a tapestry where the aroma of her native Barein and the electric Miles Davis converge with sinuosity. Cleverly relying on samplers and pedals to twist the sound of his trumpet and suggest atmospheres full of color and texture, his concerts fuse modal jazz, psychedelia and electronics in a way that is as organic as it is personal.Snarky Puppy
While the press still decides in which musical style to catalog them, the public sells out the tickets of Snarky Puppy at the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the industry endorses its popularity with four Grammy awards. Not bad for a project based in New York, which not so long ago played in small bars promoting its concerts word of mouth. From Snoop Dogg to David Crosby or Justin Timberlake, the curriculum as collaborators of the musicians who make up this collective is dizzying, and attests to the freshness and versatility that their character treasures, whether they sound like jazz, independent rock or funk. -

Xavi Torres Trio
The trajectory and projection of Xavi Torres from Tarragona have deserved the recognition of international awards such as the Keep an Eye International Jazz Award 2015 or the popular Thelonious Monk Jazz Piano Competition, of whose contest he was a finalist. After their successful journey through Dutch lands, the pianist's trio – now with Martín Leitón (double bass) and Andreu Pitarch (drums) in their ranks – continues to consolidate the prestige of Torres with a staging that exudes passion and dynamism. The extraordinary interaction between the musicians and their ability to surprise the audience with harmonic structures full of freshness are an irresistible claim.Arturo Sandoval, winner of 10 Grammys
Throughout more than half a century of musical career, Arturo Sandoval has become a true legend of Cuban music. Protected by Dizzy Gillespie —who invited him to join the United Nations Orchestra— and a founding member of the Irakere seminals along with Chucho Valdés and Paquito D'Rivera, Sandoval has also cultivated the classical genre or the bolero, with the same mastery that has made him one of the most exciting trumpet virtuosos of recent decades. -

Theon Cross
In his projects as a leader or with the explosive Sons of Kemet by Shabaka Hutchings, Theon Cross has rescued the tuba from the niche of the brass bands to place it in a completely new musical context: able to make his instrument walk like his admired Paul Chambers, he does not hesitate to free him from his rhythmic role to give him prominence in a formula that builds bridges with his Jamaican roots and other contemporary musical forms. A proposal that has awakened the interest in jazz of a new generation of young British thirsty for new sounds.
Robert Glasper
When more orthodox critics and fans began praising Glasper as the expected heir to Herbie Hancock that he seemed destined to be, the Texas pianist reacted as intelligently as possible: frustrating his expectations. Black Radio III (Loma Vista Recordings, 2022) expands a series whose first installment received the Grammy for best R&B album in 2013, and in which he has surrounded himself to date with guests such as Jill Scott, Q-Tip, Gregory Porter, Common or Erykah Badu. Hip-hop, funk and nu-soul that inject contemporary jazz with something as essential as its own, the enriched mixture with other dialects of Great Black Music. -

Kase.O Jazz Magnetism
After the separation of Violadores del Verso in 2009, its charismatic leader Javier Ibarra created Jazz Magnetism together with some of the most restless musicians of the Barcelona jazz scene, to give wings to his freest and most organic flow. A decade later and already become one of the most international artists of hip-hop in Spanish, Kase.O reactivates this project where rap and improvised music converse without interference under the umbrella of groove.
