Pablo M. Caminero Trío&NDR Bigband
Pablo Martín Caminero, born in 1974 in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Basque Country, defies convention in flamenco music. Despite not singing, dancing, or playing guitar, his music is deeply influenced by flamenco. After studying classical double bass in Vienna, he delved into flamenco upon returning to Spain, collaborating with luminaries like Chano Domínguez and Gerardo Nuñez. His passion lies in blending the artistry of flamenco with jazz improvisation, showcased through his bowed double bass. Evoking the depth of flamenco singers like Camarón and the rhythmic complexities of guitarists like Paco de Lucía, his music also incorporates blues and intricate jazz arrangements. Martín Caminero now collaborates with the NDR Bigband, presenting a vibrant fusion of cultures in an orchestral setting.
Terri Lyne Carrington
Terri Lyne Carrington, the indefatigable jazz drummer, producer and composer, presents her latest multidisciplinary project, "New Standards Vol. 1". Starting with a revelation during her work at the Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice, Carrington is grappling with the dearth of scores by female composers in jazz. With "New Standards," she will be presenting 101 scores by women composers spanning nearly a century. With compositions by iconic figures such as Mary Lou Williams and modern innovators such as Esperanza Spalding, the project reshapes the jazz canon, advocating for inclusivity and imagining a future with a more representative musical landscape.

Joel Ross
"Amidst the pandemic, Joel Ross returned to New York's renowned New School conservatory, where he enrolled in a class on the blues, a decision that profoundly reshaped his perspective. Rather than viewing the blues as a conventional 12-bar form, he began to see it as a profound essence, a source of energy.
Reflecting on his previous albums for Blue Note, Ross questioned whether they were overly intricate, focusing too much on time and tempo manipulations, potentially alienating some listeners.
His fourth album, recorded with his regular ensemble Good Vibes, offers a more accessible approach. Featuring breezy covers of Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane, alongside seven original compositions, the album showcases Ross's talent and presents an innovative homage to tradition."
Cécile McLorin Salvant
Cécile McLorin Salvant stands as a luminary on the contemporary jazz scene, and her latest record, "Mélusine," further cements her status as a singular talent. Each song on the album is a masterclass in storytelling, as Cécile effortlessly traverses a spectrum of musical styles and moods, from haunting ballads to playful swing numbers. Through his nuanced performances and innovative arrangements, she invites listeners into a world of musical charm, where every note resonates with soulful beauty. "Mélusine" is a testament to the artistry of Cécile McLorin Salvant and a must-listen for jazz fans and music lovers alike.
